When “The Winding Stream” was ready to launch its second Kickstarter campaign, editor Greg Snider was tied up in a different project so Beth asked me if I was interested. I’d lie if I said the idea of possibly getting to work with Greg somewhere down the line didn’t enter my head. Greg edited “How To Die In Oregon” and “The Real Dirt on Farmer John” among many great films, so when I was asked to stay on and assist him on the film I was very excited.
Aside from getting to poke around here and there in the film itself, and listen to Greg and Beth cleverly figure out how to tell a story spanning a century and several generations of musicians in 90 minutes, a lot of the work consisted of helping with the continuing fundraising effort. The archival material was indispensable in telling the story right, but it came with a hefty price tag. Since funding for this type of projects is… up in the air, at the moment, we took clips from the film directly to the audience, showed them what we’re doing, and asked them to help. They did. We’re almost there. If you would like to help too, go to the website and donate!
